While the New York Islanders dominated the 1980's, winning four division titles, the next two decades very much belonged to the New Jersey Devils, who claimed nine between 1996-2010. Hall of Fame goaltender and current team Executive Vice President and Advisor of Hockey Operations Martin Brodeur was the only member of the roster for all nine championships.
The Devils and Islanders played in three games during the 2024-25 season. Their first face off of the season on October 25 resulted in an overtime loss for the Devils. The Devils traveled to Long Island for their game on November 9, repaying the favor to the Islanders, winning 4-3 in overtime. Their final matchup of the season resulted in an Islanders 1-0 victory over the Devils in Newark.
For the 2025-26 season, the Devils kick off their four-game series with the Islanders at the Prudential Center on November 10, 2025. The rivals will face off in New York in December and January before their last regular season game on February 5, 2026 in Newark.
